The Quiet Place Ministries Story

Brian and Theresa Hendrick, with their children, Jacob, Bradley, and Krystle. Brian and Theresa worked for a year 'round ministry for underprivileged children for 16 years before starting Quiet Place Ministries.      In April of 1998, Brian and Theresa Hendrick felt a burden for those who serve in Christian ministry and felt called to develop a retreat ministry for them. The Lord laid Mark 6:31 on their hearts where Christ says to his disciples, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest." (NIV). In the fall of 1999, Quiet Place Ministries (QPM) was incorporated and received non-profit status from the IRS.      The purpose of QPM is to help strengthen those in ministry in their walk with the Lord, their marriages, and their families. The pressures in ministry can be great and many become discouraged. Often the family suffers from a lack of time together. Quiet Place Ministries seeks to provide time away (a retreat) where families can spend time together and with the Lord. Because those with lower incomes have a harder time getting away, QPM has a special burden to help them, although others who have a need for a retreat are also welcome.      It is the prayer of Brian and Theresa, along with the rest of the Board, that God will provide property to develop for the ministry. As of this time, however, QPM does not own property or facilities. Therefore, cottages, cabins, vacation homes or Bed and Breakfast Inns are rented for guests to use for a retreat. If they prefer a more rustic retreat, camping may also be available. QPM tries to provide facilities in a quiet, peaceful setting. Possible Retreat Setting     Comfortable Accommodations      Because these retreats are free of charge, guests take part in a self-generated program that requires an average of four hours a day. The program consists of any activities that promote spirtual growth and/or learning. Therefore, time spent in Bible study and prayer counts, along with other activities selected, such as nature walks, hobbies, tours, Christian music and using resources. Guests may take their own resources (Bible studies, books, and tapes) and/or choose from those offered. Guests are responsible for paying for their food and transportation, as well as activites like playing golf and visiting a zoo. Board of Directors Each member of the Board of Directors has experience in ministry, from the youth pastorate to foreign missions. More importantly, each member has a heart to encourage those who serve the Lord. We are thankful for this group the Lord has put together.
